Custom Whimsy

Custom Whimsy pieces are one-of-a-kind artworks created with care, guided by memory, meaning, and a quiet sense of magic. They may honour a beloved presence, explore a feeling, or take shape in a way that feels right for your story.

If you’re here, you don’t need to have everything figured out. We begin where you are.

A Small Pause For Inspiration

Before we begin, you’re invited to wander a little.

While whimsy is one way I tell stories, it isn’t the only one. Some pieces grow quieter. Some more abstract. Some are guided more by feeling than form.

If it feels helpful, take a slow stroll through both galleries. You’re welcome to mention anything that speaks to you when you submit your inquiry — a colour, a mood, a texture, or a specific piece that feels like home.

  • What I Offer

I create a custom artwork just for you, shaped by memory, feeling, or a story that matters.

Many pieces are memorial in nature. Others explore connection, presence, or quiet transformation.

Each piece is created slowly and with care, allowing space for reflection along the way.

  • How It Begins

You’ll be invited to share a few details through a gentle inquiry form — such as size or surface preferences, reference images or colour palettes, and anything that feels important to the piece.

Nothing is finalized at this stage. It’s simply a starting point for conversation.

  • Investment

Custom piece pricing varies based on size, surface, and complexity. Most pieces begin around $350–$400 CAD for a 12 × 12 in work, with free Canada and US standard shipping.

Other sizes and surfaces are available, and I’m happy to help you decide what feels right before moving forward.

Made With Care, Not With Rush

I take on a very limited number of custom pieces at a time, so each one can be created with the attention it deserves.

When commissions are open, you’ll find an invitation below to begin the inquiry process. When they’re closed, you’ll be able to leave your email to receive a gentle note when availability returns.

Every piece is shaped slowly, thoughtfully, and with respect for the story it carries.

I’m Currently Accepting a Small Number of Commissions

When you’re ready, you’re welcome to share a few details with me.
There’s no commitment at this stage — just a gentle starting point for conversation.

About the Process

What Happens After You Submit

Once you submit your inquiry, I’ll take time to carefully review what you’ve shared.

You can expect a personal reply from me by email within 3–5 business days, letting you know whether I’m able to take on your piece, along with any questions or next steps if we move forward.

I kindly ask that all communication about your piece stays within the same email thread. This helps keep your story, details, and updates together.

Submitting an inquiry doesn’t commit you to anything. It’s simply a first step in seeing whether we’re a good fit to create something meaningful together.

Process & Timeline

Each custom piece unfolds slowly and with intention.

Once your inquiry is reviewed and accepted, I’ll confirm availability, final details, and an estimated timeline based on the size, surface, and complexity of your piece.

The initial inquiry is simply a starting point. If we decide to move forward, I’ll share a second, more detailed questionnaire where you can take your time providing additional information, reference images, and reviewing the agreement.

Most commissions take several weeks from start to completion, and sometimes longer for larger or more layered works. I don’t rush this process — your piece needs time to breathe and take shape.

I’ll share updates at key moments along the way, with quiet stretches in between while the work is in progress. This is normal, and part of how the piece becomes what it’s meant to be.

If you have a specific timeframe in mind, you’re welcome to mention it in your inquiry, and I’ll let you know whether it’s realistic before we move forward.

Securing Your Commission

If we decide to move forward together, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your commission and reserve space in my schedule.

Work begins once the deposit is received. The remaining balance is due before your finished piece is shipped or delivered.

This deposit reflects the time, materials, and creative energy set aside for your piece, and allows the work to unfold with care and intention.

All details will be clearly confirmed with you by email before anything begins.

Revisions & Changes

I want you to feel comfortable and cared for throughout this process, while also allowing the piece to unfold naturally.

For smaller pieces, one round of revisions is included.
For larger or more complex works, two rounds of revisions are included.
This will always be clearly discussed and confirmed with you before the work begins.

The first review takes place during the sketching stage and allows for meaningful feedback on direction, composition, and overall feel. Once this stage is approved, the foundation of the piece is considered set.

If a second review is included, it is reserved for minor refinements only, such as subtle colour or mood adjustments. Major changes to the concept, composition, subject, or style are not possible after the sketch is approved. Requests of that nature would be considered a new commission.

If you prefer to be surprised and offer full creative freedom, you’re welcome to opt out of previews and revisions altogether. Many clients find this allows the piece to unfold in a more intuitive way.

Art is a living, intuitive process. I’ll always listen carefully — and when something isn’t possible, I’ll explain why with care and transparency.

Price Estimates

To keep things simple, custom pieces begin around $350–$400 CAD for a 12 × 12 in work.

In the inquiry form, you’ll be able to select a size and surface to view a more detailed starting estimate. If you’re unsure what to choose, you can select “not sure / help me decide” and we’ll figure it out together.

These estimates are a starting point. Final pricing may shift slightly depending on the needs of the piece, such as overall complexity, layered mixed media elements, or special requests.

I’ll always confirm the final quote with you by email before we move forward.

Shipping

Commissioned pieces are physical, original artworks created through a one-to-one process and shipped from my studio in Canada. Each piece is made specifically for you, often to honour something meaningful, and I take great care in preparing it before it leaves my hands.

Free standard shipping is offered for commissioned artwork shipped to Canada and the United States. Standard delivery typically takes 3–9 business days. Express shipping is also available and can be arranged upon request, with delivery usually taking 2–3 business days.

Commissioned artwork ships worldwide. For destinations outside Canada and the United States, delivery times may vary depending on location, customs processing, and local carriers.

Once your commissioned piece is complete and you’ve given final approval, it is typically prepared for shipment within 2-3 business days. When your artwork ships, a tracking link will be shared with you so you can follow its journey.

Please note that customs duties, taxes, or import fees may apply for international deliveries and are the responsibility of the recipient.

Because commissioned pieces are created by hand and shaped by a personal process, small variations, textures, or imperfections are part of the work and part of what makes each piece uniquely yours.

Returns

Commissioned pieces are custom, one-of-a-kind artworks created specifically for you through a personal, collaborative process. Because of their custom nature, commissioned work is not eligible for returns, exchanges, or refunds once the piece has been completed and approved.

Throughout the commission process, care is taken to ensure alignment before completion. This includes discussion, reference review, and a final approval stage before the artwork is prepared for shipment. This approval step is an important part of the process and confirms that the piece is ready to move forward.

If a commissioned artwork arrives damaged during transit, please contact me within 48 hours of delivery with clear photos of the packaging and the artwork itself. All commissioned pieces are shipped with insurance, which helps cover damage that may occur during shipping, and I will guide you through the next steps if a claim is needed.

Because commissioned work is created by hand and shaped by a personal process, small variations in texture, surface, or detail are a natural part of the finished piece and are not considered flaws.

I understand that commissioning artwork often carries emotional meaning. If you have questions or uncertainties at any point in the process, I encourage open communication so concerns can be addressed early and thoughtfully.
